It’s a very interesting perspective on addiction, I wish more film makers could muster up the courage to make sexually charged, important movies like this, and it also happens to have a fantastic little score to back up McQueen’s skills with the camera. Fassbender is amazing in this role and really nails just about every scene he has on screen. Good review. Give mine a look at when you can.

The only subject we have no shortage of in American films are women's angst and men being castrated either in some lame accident (Adam Sandler) or through a vicious sexual assault that is supposed to be funny, but isn't (all the rest of the films.) American films suck.

I'm sad to say that I have been in a similar conversation a few times, maybe in a slightly different context, about how Muslims are somehow genetically wired differently. The arguments are always the same: they [Muslims] are more backwards then the folks in the west, less evolved etc. I want to know what makes Muslims so "special"; must be in the water I guess. I think its all based on irrational fear of the unknown. There are no monsters in the closet, just inside our heads, I guess. I'm glad you're starting this dialog.

Vic, that's one topic on which most people seem to disagree with me: I cannot think of any film which isn't worth seeing at a cinema.

If you're going to watch it, 127 Hours needs to be seen (and heard!) in a proper picture palace.

Enjoyed your cometary. Unemployment is up here, too. many jobs going overseas, trade imbalances, a lot of penny pinching going on except amont the wealthy. I agree. It's easy to get the young males attention especially if you have something to offer. And it seems to me most countries have racial tensions at some level. Good luck. Best wishes.

Reading your post, it took me back to the time when I left home years back for London and since then though I have been back several times and sometimes for a fairly long spells at home but it is not the same.
